Sample Objectives
As outlined in the CWE Student Handbook, the learning objectives should follow the format of:
- What: What are you going to accomplish?
- How: How are you going to accomplish it?
- When: How will you measure the achievement of your objective?
Here are some sample objectives taken from past student training agreement forms.
- Micro Support - Hardware - Inventory
- What: Reorganization of Room 10. Inventory PCs, monitors, printers, and testing of all items.
- How: Entered in database
- When: By 07/15/xx
- Micro Support - Software - Training
- What: I will train an individual how to use the mail system and the office scheduler.
- How: I will prepare for this by studying the on-line help and experimenting with each program.
- When: By midterm
- Micro Support - Software - Database
- What: To become familiar with the changes in the new version of dBase for Windows, Version 5.
- How: Completion of this task will be demonstrated by successful conversion of the card catalog system to an automated format.
- When: By the end of the term
- Micro Support - Software - Technical Writing
- What: I will write the procedures for setting up a new computer and installing basic software.
- How: The procedures will be written as step-by-step instructions. The completion of this objective will be indicated by testing the procedures by a computer knowledgeable individual.

- What: I will create the forms, queries and reports needed for the forms.mdb.
- How: The forms queries and reports will be evaluated on their functionality as well as their ease of use.

- How: This will be shown by my ability to perform entry level tasks.

- What: I will develop a basic understanding of computer hardware troubleshooting.
- How: This will be shown in my ability to diagnosis and correct hardware problems.

- Programming - Systems Analysis
- What: Develop greater skills for creating analysis documents.
- How: Proof will be in the generation of the analysis document.

- Programming - Software - Easytrieve
- What: I will learn the Easytrieve Plus programming language and be able to produce reports in a production environment.
- How: Generation of actual reports
- When: By the end of the term
- Programming - Software - JCL
- What: To develop greater working knowledge of JCL.
- How: Proof will be in the successful cataloging of test and production JCL.

- What: To gain a better understanding of the database.
